Summer
Conditioning 2008
Summer
conditioning for badminton players was held again at
Woodkirk HS on Tuesdays from the start of May to the end
of the school term.
The
age range was from 12 years upwards with Kelly Miller
probably the youngest and yours truly (BMJ) definitely the
oldest. The average number of attendees was close to 30
with several parents getting involved. We have had fathers
joining in the past but Lorraine Johnson was the first
mother to take part.
Several
people had 90% attendance but Sophie Brown took the 100%
attendance award. It was good to see the young players
working alongside the older, experienced players and the
youngest summed it up with, "it's hard work but
fun".
There
was, as normal, no charge for those attending but players
and parents gave generous donations and £425 has been
sent to Cancer Research. Approximately a third will be
added to this by the GIft Aid scheme, which will bring the
total to well over £550.
